To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. Audrey Hepburn

More about me

I always wanted to learn how to paint. I said to a friend that if there is a formula for painting, I’ll be able to master it and produce a painting. Turns out, there is and I did. I learnt a lot about not just painting, but also the viewers’ experience when observing the artwork.

Like art, landscape design is an exercise in balance, colour, interest, depth and perception.  Now add sound, smell, movement, light and touch to the mix and you can see that the landscape has the power to have an enormous impact on the human psyche.

When in the landscape, however, you are surrounded by and immerged in the experience. You are literally “living the scene”.

I’ve always been tickled by what makes a successful space. The thing is, we all have a different experience of the same space, just as we are influenced by our upbringing and environment. I’ve been fortunate enough to live on four continents in various contexts and it has definitely influenced how I experience certain scenarios. I would like to help you explore that place where you would feel most comfortable.

Together we can create spaces that you would yearn to come home to, create opportunities for wonder and contemplation, spaces that you’d be proud to entertain in.

I love plants, but I’m no horticulturalist. For me the plant is a design element that brings a sense of change and anticipation. I have huge appreciation for the natural landscape, but add in a building, a sculpture, some art and plants and the overall effect is what makes my heart beat faster.

In creating the picture as a whole we’ll address all the practicalities in a way that make them seem effortless.

Ultimately landscapes need maintenance.  The person who tells you that they can provide a maintenance free garden is a liar. Investing in a garden means investing in a long-term relationship with a living, breathing and ever evolving entity.  We’ll explore the amount of time you are able or want to invest and how best to utilise this in the design.
